Sky (Minches Jason), born in February 2005, was our first Hovawart. He was an energetic and friendly outgoing puppy, grew into a gangly teenager, and then into a very impressive dog. He loved his weekly training sessions, and walks across the local fields. More than anything else he loved the beach – any beach, where he could run and chase toys in the shallows. He gained his Kennel Club Gold Good Citizen’s award, and was graded Excellent at a character test run by the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Great Britain. He had light eyes and not enough colour in his face, but despite this he was top Hovawart in 2008 as his structure and movement was a joy to watch. He loved people and being the centre of attention. We lost him far too young in October 2010, and he is very much missed. There will always be a special place in our hearts just for him.
